As NPR’s flagship member station in Southern California for more than 30 years and a community service of Santa Monica College, KCRW is the next generation of public media.
How You’ll Make An Impact The Community Coordinator supports the execution of community engagement initiatives by assisting with volunteer coordination, event logistics, street team management, and day-to-day administrative operations. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and energized by working with people.
Working closely with the Senior Community Growth Manager, this role helps ensure that community programs, events, and ambassador activities run smoothly and reflect the organization’s values and brand.
You’ll play a key role in bringing community experiences to life and helping build meaningful connections across Los Angeles. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both people-facing work and behind-the-scenes organization.
This is a part-time position.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Volunteer & Community Communication
Support communication with volunteers and brand ambassadors, including email outreach, scheduling, and follow-ups
Maintain organized records of volunteer participation and contact information
Help ensure clear, timely, and professional communication across all community touchpoints
Assist in reviewing volunteer applications
Event Logistics & Operations
Assist with preparation for events, including packing and organizing merchandise, materials, and supplies
Ensure all event materials are ready, including signage, equipment, and collateral
Support basic tech readiness such as charging POS systems and preparing event tools
Use Shopify and Salesforce to help track and manage inventory, including merchandise organization and cleanup
On-Site Event Support
Serve as on-site lead for street team activations and community events, especially during the summer events season
Assist with event load in and breakdown
Coordinate and support volunteers during events, ensuring roles and expectations are clear
Act as a friendly and professional representative of the organization in public-facing environments
Provide feedback from interactions with volunteers, members, and other event-goers
Administrative Support
Provide general administrative support to the Sr. Community Growth Manager
Help maintain systems for tracking inventory, events, and volunteer engagement
Assist with documentation, checklists, and process organization to improve team efficiency
Add event listings using Contentful
Here’s What You’ll Bring:
Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in connecting with people
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of organization and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay proactive in a fast-paced environment
Reliability and a strong sense of ownership over assigned responsibilities
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is a must
The ability to lift over 30lbs is a must as you’ll be setting up and breaking down equipment at events
Flexible schedule; this role includes occasional evenings and weekends for events
What We Offer
(Salary Range/Union minimum) $27.73- $27.73
Hybrid work schedule for select positions.
Eligible for overtime and premium working holiday pay rate
