The Lead Line Cook plays a key role in ensuring Saltgrass Steak House delivers high‑quality, consistent, and timely food to guests. This position supports kitchen leadership by maintaining standards, training team members, and keeping the line running smoothly during peak service.


Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations

  • Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to Saltgrass recipes and presentation standards.

  • Maintain full knowledge of all stations (grill, sauté, fry, prep, expo) and rotate as needed.

  • Ensure food quality, portion accuracy, and ticket times meet company expectations.

  • Monitor product levels and communicate needs to management to prevent shortages.

Leadership & Training

  • Assist in training new cooks on recipes, safety, sanitation, and line procedures.

  • Lead the line during busy shifts, coordinating timing and communication between stations.

  • Support the Kitchen Manager in enforcing kitchen policies and maintaining a positive work environment.

Safety & Sanitation

  • Follow all food safety guidelines, including proper storage, labeling, and temperature control.

  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and assist with end‑of‑shift cleaning tasks.

  • Ensure equipment is used safely and report any maintenance issues promptly.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with servers, expo, and management to ensure smooth service flow.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally during high‑pressure situations.

  • Help maintain a culture of teamwork, respect, and accountability.


Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Previous line cook experience required, lead or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume kitchen.

  • Strong knowledge of grilling, sautéing, and general culinary techniques.

  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and time‑management skills.

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Typical Work Environment

  • High‑energy, guest‑focused steakhouse kitchen.

  • Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are common.

  • Fast pace with emphasis on accuracy, consistency, and teamwork.

 

 


Pay Range

USD $23.00 - USD $26.00 /Hr.
Tipped Position
