Trainer (OPWDD area)

ACLD is a leading not-for-profit agency employing 1300+ staff and providing services throughout both Nassau and Suffolk county. ACLD provides services to children and adults with developmental disabilities.

ACLD has an exceptional full time (35 hours per week) opportunity for an experienced human services professional looking to continue a career in adult education. 

Primary Purpose of Job 

Conduct training and learning sessions for direct care employees who support people with developmental disabilities.  


Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in Human Service field required.  

    Minimum 1 experience presenting training materials in group settings required.  Three years preferred.

Minimum of one (1) year experience presenting training materials in group settings required. Three (3) years preferred.

    One (1) year experience working in an OPWDD setting preferred.  

    Two (2) years' experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.  

    Obtain and maintain certifications as an instructor of American Heart Association CPR/First Aid/AED and in NYS-endorsed behavioral support curriculum (e.g.: SCIP-R, PROMOTE, etc.).  OPWDD status as an Instructor Trainer a plus. 

    Work flexible hours and days, including evenings and weekends, on an as needed basis.

    Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, and lift a minimum of 10 lbs.    

    Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, LITMOS and Eventbrite a plus.  


Essential Functions

    Conduct training agency-wide including but not limited to: NYS-endorsed behavioral support curriculum (e.g.: SCIP-R, PROMOTE, etc.), CPR/First Aid/AED certification courses, New Hire Orientation, supervisory and other program-defined, policy or regulatory-required trainings.

    Provide administrative support to department including but not limited to generating, publishing and distributing Center for Learning training memos / reports / calendars / rosters.  

    Manage Center for Learning content on Microsoft Teams.  

    Assist with general management of Center for Learning databases, including collecting and entering all data related to department initiatives 

    Assist in development of new Center for Learning reports, materials, presentations and videos.

    Assist with development and creation of eLearning modules and management of Learning Management System.


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Ability

    Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

    Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.

    Proficiency in MS Office products (e.g.: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.)

    Ability to work independently.  

Annual Salary at $66,300.

Full-time, 35 hours per week, position (Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm) located in Bethpage. Must be flexible to train weekends and nights if needed.
