Work Hours: Flexible; includes evenings, weekends, youth ministry events

Reports to: Pastor, Director of Pastoral Life & Evangelization

JOB SUMMARY

The Co-Director of Worship & Liturgy collaborates in leading the parish’s liturgical life, with particular emphasis on youth worship, faith formation support, and integration with parish school and religious education programs. The Co-Director provides leadership for assigned liturgies, supports sacramental celebrations, and strengthens participation among youth and families in the parish’s worship life.


This role supports the Director while exercising independent responsibility for assigned liturgies, youth-focused worship initiatives, and office operations to ensure continuity and excellence in parish worship.


WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  1. Accountable to the Pastor and Director of Pastoral Life & Evangelization & Liturgy and part of the Parish Pastoral Staff.
  2. Collaborates with the Pastor, Director of Worship & Liturgy, Youth Ministry Director, Director of Religious Education, parish      school music teacher, and parish staff.
  3. Works with liturgical volunteers, musicians, and youth leaders.
  4. Supports harmonious collaboration among parish ministries.

PASTORAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintains communication with the Director of Worship & Liturgy, Director and parish staff.
  2. Attends staff meetings and youth ministry planning sessions.
  3. Serves as resource for youth worship and liturgical formation.
  4. Supports unity of worship across parish ministries.
  5. Other duties as directed by the Pastor or Director.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in scheduling musicians, cantors, and liturgical ministers.
  2. Supports maintenance of music library and licensing compliance.
  3. Assists in preparation of worship aids and digital resources.
  4. Coordinates communications related to youth worship (bulletin, social media, parish app).
  5. Supports quarterly music leader meetings and volunteer communications.
  6. Assists with Safe Environment compliance for volunteers.

LITURGICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Assigned Weekend Liturgies

  • Plans music for assigned Masses (e.g., Sunday 5:30 p.m.).
  • Provides accompaniment and musical leadership.
  • Collaborates to ensure consistency across all Masses.

Youth & Faith Formation Worship (Primary Focus)

  • Coordinates music for youth nights, retreats, and Confirmation preparation.
  • Assists Youth Ministry Director in integrating worship into youth programming.
  • Supports religious education liturgies and pageants.
  • Collaborates with parish school music teacher for school liturgies.

Sacramental Celebrations (Support)

Provides music support for:

  • Weddings
  • Funerals
  • Quinceañeras
  • First Communion
  • Confirmation
  • OCIA rites
  • Retreat liturgies

YOUTH MINISTRY INTEGRATION (CORE RESPONSIBILITY)

  1. Encourages youth participation in liturgical ministries.
  2. Recruits and trains youth cantors and musicians.
  3. Supports youth retreats and worship opportunities.
  4. Promotes liturgical formation among youth.
  5. Serves as liaison between Worship Office and Youth Ministry.

LEADERSHIP & VOLUNTEER FORMATION

  1. Assists with cantor training and rehearsal planning.
  2. Helps recruit and onboard volunteers.
  3. Promotes a culture of reverence, collaboration, and service.
  4. Provides coverage for Director as needed.

Requirements

  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing.
  • Strong piano accompaniment skills.
  • Working knowledge of Catholic liturgy.
  • Experience working with youth preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred: Experience in parish ministry; bilingual (English/Spanish).


 

LICENSE AND CREDENTIALS

  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening
  • Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening


 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Requires some variable hours and on call response after regular business hours to meet the needs of the parish. Requires some weekend, holiday and evening work for events or the ability to arrange coverage. These times include but are not limited to Christmas season, Holy Week/Easter, fundraisers, after mass functions, etc. Local travel for business purposes and occasional overnight travel for parish training, etc. may also be required.
