Look no further, we at The Arc of the Quad Cities Area are looking for a Sleep Shift Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at a Group Home of three adult women located in Rock Island! 😎

What does a Sleep Shift DSP do, and what qualities do we look for?

As a Sleep Shift Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a vital role in supporting three adult women with intellectual and developmental disabilities around the clock. Your responsibilities include delivering personal care training and active treatment, contributing to the individuals' growth and well-being. You would also assist with daily living activities and managing tasks such as cleaning and meal preparation. Additionally, you will administer medications, transport individuals to and from appointments while attending them, organize and participate in community outings, maintain accurate documentation in our online documentation solution to meet our agency and regulatory standards, and perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor. The person in this position must be reliable, trustworthy, capable of independent work, well-organized, adaptable, accountable, and patient, with strong written and verbal communication skills. 


What would the hours be in this Sleep Shift DSP position?

The Sleep Shift Position schedule requires you to remain at the Group Home for prolonged durations, including working every other weekend from 2 PM on Friday until 9 AM on Monday. Additionally, there will be split shifts in which your work hours begin at 2 PM and conclude at 9 AM, followed by a return to work later that same day at 2 PM. Over a two-week span, the total hours worked will amount to 143. Our pay periods begin on a Wednesday; the initial schedule consists of the weeks listed below.


1st Week -The first weekend shift of the pay period would include working Friday at 2 PM and working until Monday at 9 AM: 

Wednesday: OFF

Thursday:  OFF

Friday: 2PM until Monday at 9AM

Tuesday: OFF


2nd Week:

Wednesday: 2PM-9AM

Thursday:  2PM-9AM

Friday: OFF

Saturday:  OFF

Sunday: OFF

Monday:  2PM-9AM

Tuesday: 2PM-9AM

This role helps across all shifts, encompassing both daytime and nighttime hours. For specific periods during the third shift, the hourly wage will be adjusted to account for the sleep allowance; staff members are expected to maintain their service and support responsibilities throughout the night as required.

What are the minimum job requirements for this position?

  • Must have a current and valid driver's license with the appropriate car insurance
  • Provide evidence of completing a high school education, which can include a diploma, transcripts, or GED.
  • Have the ability to pass federal background checks
  • Demonstrate strength and flexibility to assist lifting individuals or provide other individual-related care when needed.
  • Maintain a positive, fun attitude to encourage the individuals we serve.
