Purpose of the Role

The Senior Manager – Australia Projects is accountable for leading a large transformation project.

The role owns the Australia view end‑to‑end — acting as the single point of accountability between Australia and Unilever Group — ensuring that local actions, data, risks and decisions are clearly articulated, delivered on time, and aligned to Group requirements.

Key Accountabilities

End‑to‑End Ownership (Australia)

  • Full accountability for delivery across finance, reporting, and operational readiness.

  • Translate Group requirements into clear, executable actions and timelines.

  • Proactively identify risks, issues and interdependencies, escalating and resolving at pace.

  • Act as the central owner and coordinator.

Financial Carve‑Out & Reporting

  • Own inputs into carve‑out financial statements, data packs and separation reporting.

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency of financial information submitted to Group.

  • Resolve complex accounting considerations arising from commingled balances and shared services.

  • Partner closely with Group Chief Accounting Department, Australia Finance and external advisors.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Act as the key Australia interface to Global teams, Group Finance, auditors and advisors.

  • Provide clear, concise and timely updates on progress, risks and decisions.

  • Build strong working relationships across Australia Finance, Controls, Tax, IT and Business teams.

  • Coordinate across multiple workstreams with limited resources.

Execution & Delivery Excellence

  • Independently plan, manage and deliver work with minimal supervision or support.

  • Maintain detailed tracking of milestones, deliverables and dependencies.

  • Ensure adherence to governance, controls and audit requirements.

  • Drive outcomes in a high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment.

Key Stakeholders

Internal (Australia):

  • Australia Finance Team

  • Financial Accounting, Controllership and Controls teams

  • Tax, IT and Business stakeholders

Internal (Global):

  • Group Chief Accounting Department (GCAD)

  • Global Finance leads

  • Global Finance and RTR teams

External:

  • Big 4 audit firms

  • External advisors

Skills, Experience & Capabilities

Essential Experience

  • Strong background in financial accounting, controllership or complex reporting environments.

  • Proven experience in business transformation, separation, carve‑out or large‑scale finance projects.

  • Professional accounting qualification (CA / CPA or equivalent).

  • Experience working with senior stakeholders across local and global teams.

Critical Capabilities

  • Highly independent self‑starter with strong personal ownership.

  • Comfortable operating with minimal direction and limited support.

  • Strong judgement and problem‑solving capability in ambiguous situations.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritise, execute and deliver under pressure.

Technical Skills

  • Strong financial reporting and accounting knowledge.

  • Experience with complex, commingled balance sheets preferred.

  • SAP & iFinance experience desirable.

Leadership Expectations

  • Demonstrates bias for action and accountability.

  • Operates with confidence and credibility at senior levels.

  • Pragmatic, solutions‑oriented approach.

  • Personally drives outcomes rather than coordinating from a distance.

Why This Role is Different
This is not a coordination or oversight role. It is an in‑market execution role requiring direct ownership of deliverables. Success depends on the individual’s ability to operate autonomously, make judgement calls, and deliver end‑to‑end outcomes in a complex, evolving environment.

Note the focus of this role is on Australia due to the size of the market. If there is anything needed for New Zealand (if any) you will also be responsible.
