About the Role
Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly self-sufficient and proactive HR Generalist to serve as the sole HR professional within our organization. This role is responsible for managing the full spectrum of human resources functions, with a strong emphasis on full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition. The ideal candidate is hands-on, resourceful, and experienced in using Paylocity to support HR operations, payroll, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruiting (Primary Focus)
- Manage full-cycle recruiting: sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding candidates
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruiting strategies
- Create and post job descriptions across multiple platforms using Paylocity and JobTarget
- Build and maintain candidate pipelines for current and future hiring needs
- Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process
- Track recruiting metrics and optimize hiring processes
HR Operations & Administration
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Administer HR policies, procedures, and programs
- Manage onboarding and outboarding processes
- Handle employee relations issues with professionalism and confidentiality
Payroll, HRIS & Paylocity Management
- Administer payroll and benefits using Paylocity and Employee Navigator
- Maintain and optimize HRIS data, reporting, and workflows within Paylocity
- Generate reports and provide insights on workforce metrics
- Troubleshoot system issues and act as internal Paylocity expert
Compliance & Policy Management
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
- Update and maintain employee handbook and HR policies
- Support audits and ensure proper documentation
Additional HR Functions
- Support performance management processes
- Coordinate training and development initiatives as needed
- Assist leadership with organizational planning and HR strategy
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in a standalone or small-company environment
- Strong experience in full-cycle recruiting
- Hands-on experience with Paylocity
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building HR processes from the ground up
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR)
- Experience in a fast-paced or growing company
