About the Role

Description

Phononic is transforming the way data centers cool. As a Reliability Test Technician, you will be at the front lines of innovation, ensuring our thermoelectric devices meet the highest standards of durability and performance. This is more than a lab-role; it’s a career-growth opportunity where you will learn advanced engineering skillsets and play a critical part in the development of new products.


Responsibilities 

· Precision Execution: Execute detailed reliability test plans for thermoelectric devices, ensuring every data point is accurate and dependable.

· Hands-on Technical Support: Lead sample preparation and test setups, including precision soldering, wiring, wire-bonding, and building thermocouples.

· Characterization & Analysis: Set up Z-meter test recipes and perform device characterization to identify the limits of our technology.

· Data Integrity: Use JMP, Access, and Excel to process reliability data and provide actionable updates to internal stakeholders.

· Problem Solving: Actively identify setup issues and part failure. You will assist the engineering team in analyzing failures to drive product improvements.

· Operational Excellence: Maintain a high-functioning lab environment through daily walkthroughs, light equipment maintenance, inventory management and the creation of clear work instructions.

Requirements

Position Requirements 

· Associates of Science degree and 2 years of experience in materials science, electrical engineering, manufacturing or similar field preferred. Applicants with lesser qualifications may be considered and will be trained. 

· Analytically inclined and able to carry out both complex and routine analyses with a focus on speed of execution and careful attention to detail. 

· Candidates must detail oriented and show ability to strictly adhere to procedure minimal supervision

· Must have excellent manual dexterity. Candidates must be team players, take good direction, and have the desire to learn. 

· Capable of clearly defining issues/progress and communicating status via email 

· Experience with Windows Operating Systems & MS office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 

· JMP, database and programming skills are desirable

· Prior experience in SEM, EDX and other image techniques is desirable


Physical requirements

The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
