Description
The VP, Human Resource Director is responsible for coordinating all functions related to employee recruitment, training & development, compensation, benefits, performance management and related record keeping. In addition, the position is responsible for the documentation and implementation of employment policies, procedures and safety of the workforce.
This includes, but is not limited to, assisting in the coordination of the various responsibilities of upper management, and working closely with them in planning strategic organizational initiatives to attract, retain and motivate high-performing employees that can contribute to the larger organizational goals.
This position assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Consult with and advise the leadership team on the implementation of strategic initiatives that attract, retain and motivate highly qualified employees.
- Work with managers to post for new positions, review applications and schedules interviews, assist with interview questions and onboard the selected candidate.
- Create and maintain required staffing plans and affirmative action documentation.
- Coordinate appropriate employee training to maximize professional potential for all individuals.
- Ensure employee compensation and incentives are paid accurate and timely.
- Oversee all employee benefit plans and contracts. Create and distribute informative communication tools regarding employee benefits. Verify and approve monthly employee benefit billings from vendors.
- Provide employee benefit enrollment materials to employees, explain the benefit, answer any questions, ensure the employee is enrolled with the provider and has necessary cards and/or contact information for each benefit plan.
- Manage the Employee Performance function by providing managers and employees with timely and useful tools for appropriate performance communication and feedback. Verify documentation is completed and returned for record keeping.
- Write or review employee disciplinary documents prior to presentation to the employee. Provide effective coaching options to the manager to obtain optimal results.
- Foster open and honest discussions between an employee and the manager related to performance expectations, policy interpretations, goal setting, scheduling and other work related topics.
- Process all terminations of employment ensuring information is shared on a ‘need to know’ basis only.
- Provide verbal and written verifications of employment following policy and practices regarding information provided.
- Provide input for reporting structure changes or movement of responsibilities to ensure employee opinions are valued and business/customer needs are met.
- Ensure that policies and procedures regarding employees are compliant with federal and local legislations.
- Maintain and update employee handbook and related policies.

- Must maintain strict confidentiality.
- Advanced oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand and implement procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers, management and employees.
- Must actively display sincere empathy and concern for employee well-being at all times.
- Expert knowledge of Federal and State Employment and Wage & Hour Laws.
- Good skills in computer operation; word processing, spreadsheet and on-line job posting software programs.
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties
Requirements
- Bachelors’ Degree in a related field and 5 years of focused HR experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. (Work related experience should consist of dedicated human resource responsibilities, ideally within a financial institution. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or related curriculum, should be related to human resources and organizational development.)
