About the Role

Description

Grey Street Consulting, LLC (Grey Street), a leading small business provider of operational support services to Federal civilian and defense agencies, is seeking to hire a Law Clerk to support our prospective client within the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) – Arizona. This position will be performed onsite, full-time in Phoenix, AZ.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with the assigned AUSAs and/or supervisory attorneys to determine applicable administrative statutory and regulatory law, and identify possible defenses, violations or causes of action.
  • Develops an understanding of all applicable federal, state, or local laws and keeps abreast of any new criminal and civil rules and procedures. Alerts AUSAs to all potential issues while conducting reviews and analyzing and interpreting data within the case file.
  • Assists with regard to 28 USC §2255 (habeas corpus) and immigration habeas matters including, but not limited to: receiving and docketing same, calendaring due dates, contacting appropriate AUSA/Support Staff regarding locating files necessary to drafting responses; preparing a draft response for review by appropriate AUSA; and attending to timely filing of responses. 
  • Incumbent analyzes statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, agency rules and regulations, and law review articles as they relate to assigned cases to include those of an especially complex or unprecedented nature. Supports AUSA by briefing attorney on pertinent facts, issues and case law. Drafts correspondence and legal documents for attorney’s signature. Drafts proposed orders for signature of judges and magistrates.


Requirements

Job Requirements and Experience

  • Law Degree (J.D.)
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain adjudication for the requisite background investigation
  • Must have valid State driver’s license
  • Minimum two (2) years of professional work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to make responsible decisions on short notice and adapt to unexpected developments
  • Physically located within the general geographic commuting radius of the USAO office
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure.
  • Experience and expertise in performing the requisite services.


ADA Requirements

  • Operate a PC and phone in an office environment.
  • Work in a primarily sedentary position. 
  • Perform some bending, light lifting, and carrying of equipment may be required.
  • Any additional office equipment that is required by the position.
