About the Role

SUMMARY

Alaska Industrial Hardware, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking qualified applicants for “Accounting Clerk I” to perform Accounts Receivable processing and other accounting tasks in Anchorage, Alaska. This position’s role is to enter, post and reconcile batches, process credit applications, take payments, maintain cash receipts journal, and update and reconcile sub-ledger to G/L.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

•Contact clients to help resolve payment issues; assist in setting up payments.

•Present information, as requested to shippers, customers, the sales/marketing department, and other stakeholders.

•Perform a variety of basic accounting tasks in accordance with standard procedures, including general accountingtasks.

•Communicate, reinforce, and support the values, culture, and mission of the organization.

•Support the Accounting department by completing administrative tasks, such as mail distribution.

•Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications:

•Microsoft Office Suite skills to include Word and Excel proficiency required

•Highschool diploma or GED equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•Punctuality and reliability

•Critical thinking skills

•Work ethic and flexibility

•Teamwork and communication skills

•Adaptability skills required for cross-training

Preferred qualifications/skills/experience:

•Prior experience in an Accounts Receivable or Credit/Collections role

•AA degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics

•Infor ERP experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job is performed in an office setting working in proximity with other Accounting Department Team members and exposure to multiple computer screens. Requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional overtime may be required.

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
