As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active Top Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance to be considered.
The Subject Matter Expert (SME), Senior Advisor provides high-level strategic and technical expertise to the Countermeasures Directorate and/or its subordinate offices within the U.S. Department of State. This role supports global security initiatives by offering policy guidance, advising on technical and physical security programs, overseeing budget/resource planning, and advancing innovation in protective systems. The SME operates as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and is responsible for developing actionable strategies for technology integration and operational improvements.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Subject Matter Expert Responsibilities Include:
Serve as a senior-level advisor to the Countermeasures Directorate, contributing to the formulation of policy initiatives/updates for Security Technology.
Provide subject matter expertise in physical or technical security programs, with guidance equivalent to that expected at the Senior Executive Service level.
Responsible for guidance incorporating comprehensive yet concise vision specific to implementation, operations, and maintenance.
Analyze existing operations in order to identify improvements and propose plans for updating or changing as needed.
Deliver technical and programmatic advice independently and provide concise, senior-level reporting.
Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Subject Matter Expert Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in physical or technical security program development or implementation.
Demonstrated experience presenting complex information to senior government personnel.
Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision.
Experience managing large-scale projects, including cost and schedule performance.
