About the Role:
The Truck Driver with a CDL A license plays a critical role in the transportation and logistics industry by safely and efficiently delivering goods across various regions within the United States. This position requires operating heavy-duty commercial vehicles to transport freight, ensuring timely arrivals while adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations. The driver is responsible for maintaining the vehicle in good working condition, performing routine inspections, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Effective communication with dispatchers, customers, and team members is essential to coordinate deliveries and resolve any logistical challenges. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the supply chain by ensuring that products reach their destinations securely and on schedule. This is a Full- Time position. Traveling between our two plants and our warehouse. Using a forklift to load and unload trailers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass DOT physical examination and drug screening.
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks safely.
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety inspection procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
- Familiarity with hazardous materials (HAZMAT) transportation and related endorsements.
- Previous experience in long-haul or regional trucking routes.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Customer service experience and strong communication abilities.
- Forklift experience
Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and in compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies.
- Transport goods to assigned destinations within specified timeframes, ensuring the security and integrity of the cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify and address any mechanical or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to provide updates on delivery status and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
- Monitor loading and unloading of products.
- Pickup and deliver product as required.
- Check fuel and oil levels in truck before loading product.
- Ensure that cargo is well secured.
- Report and equipment in the truck inoperable or missing.
- Report improper loading of cargo.
- Helping in the warehouse when needed
Skills:
The required skills enable the truck driver to operate large commercial vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all transportation laws and regulations. Proficiency in vehicle inspection and maintenance helps prevent breakdowns and ensures road safety. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with dispatch and customers, facilitating smooth delivery operations.
