About the Role

The Account Executive is an insurance professional responsible for managing and retaining a book of renewals. This entails reviewing and retaining current business, evaluating quality and profitability, pricing and risk selection to achieve company goals, and working closely with brokers and carriers on existing accounts. Responsibilities include development of relationships with independent agent customers, marketing, visiting agency force, and handling daily work and correspondence. This role operates in a self-directed workflow as well as under direct administration from the Renewal Team Supervisor. 

LOCATION: This role may operate remote in the following states only: FL, GA, IN, MO, NC and TN. Those local to the Chicagolad area would be hybrid - office 3 days and work from home 2 days.

Essential Function: 

  • Review and analyze all types of Works Compensation (WC) & Admitted Package Business (APB) renewal accounts
  • Determine pricing for renewals, new business, and commissions in alignment with carrier guidelines
  • Use carrier platforms and underwriting resources (including NCCI, WCIRB, state websites, and carrier systems) to compare rates and evaluate pricing options
  • Manage an assigned book of business to achieve revenue targets, renewal retention goals, and loss ratio expectations
  • Drive revenue growth by making strategic pricing and commission decisions within the assigned territory, while supporting additional territories as needed 
  • Work independently to create new revenue for the Brokerage Unit
  • Achieve individual and team production goals, carrier volume targets, and loss ratio requirements, including contingency/profit‑sharing objectives
  • Follow established workflows for policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations, reinstatements, binding, invoicing, and related servicing tasks
  • Enter and maintain accurate documentation—including emails, quotes, and supplemental applications—within policy management systems and carrier portals
  • Meet company standards for quality, accuracy, and turnaround time
  • Develop and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and streamline workflows
  • Communicate effectively and timely with agents and carriers via phone and email
  • Support team members with renewal marketing and servicing activities as needed

  • Assist in training new hires on renewal procedures, timelines, and departmental standards
  • Travel to agents and carriers for meetings, events, and tradeshows

Required Qualifications: 

  • 2 years of property & casualty insurance account management experience or similar
  • Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office Programs
  • Comfortable working on a high-volume, fast-paced production team
  • Strong data entry experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multi-task 
  • Resourceful, organized, self-directed approach
  • Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry
  • Insurance Producer’s License for Casualty and Fire, or the ability to obtain licensure within a set time period 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in the commercial insurance industry
  • 1 year of experience handling a WC book of business independently
  • Proficiency with an insurance policy management system (i.e. AIM) 
  • College degree

Compensation:

Annual salary range is $50,000 to $60,000. Starting pay is typically targeted around the midpoint of the appropriate band, based on relevant experience, skills, and internal equity. The position is full-time, non-exempt. 

This is a hybrid position - in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Monday and Friday work remotely. If you are located in one of the other states listed above then you would be fully remote.
