About the Role


Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Administrator, the C.N.A. Instructor will provide instruction for Nursing Assistant courses and maintain course documentation and related Nursing Assistant Program communication. The C.N.A. Instructor will directly supervise the overall operations of the Certified Nursing Assistant program. Responsibilities include participating in the development & evaluation of the training program, implementing the approved training program, supervising classroom laboratory experiences, evaluating student performance in the classroom, and providing supervision and clinical evaluation of each trainee at the clinical training site.


Duties/ Responsibilities

  1. Provide classroom and hands-on instruction in all areas required by the Maryland Board of Nursing for the CNA program.
  2. Teach foundational nursing skills, patient care techniques, and professional ethics.
  3. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments according to program guidelines.
  4. Participate in development/evaluation of the training program.
  5. Implement the approved training program.
  6. Demonstrate and supervise skills such as vital signs, infection control, mobility assistance, and personal care tasks.
  7. Evaluate student performance through written exams, skill demonstrations, and clinical assessments.
  8. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and compliance documentation.
  9. Ensure the classroom environment supports learning, professionalism, and resident safety.
  10. Facilitate clinical rotations in an approved healthcare facility and monitor student performance.
  11. Provide supervision and clinical evaluation of each trainee at the clinical training site.
  12. Provide support, guidance, and constructive feedback to students throughout the course.
  13. Stay current with state regulations, industry standards, and best practices in medication administration.
  14. Complete all required reporting and communicate progress to the Program Director.
  15. Conduct student’s assessment and identify variables that may affect student’s learning.
  16. Delegate and monitor student’s tasks.
  17. Supervise classroom laboratory experiences.
  18. Provide supervision with caregivers present during classwork hours.
  19. Perform performance evaluation on all students at the end of the C.M.T. program.
  20. Assess the environment for safety and cleanliness and make recommendations.
  21. Assess infection control practices including proper hand washing.
  22. Ensure that the equipment is being maintained properly.
  23. Ensure that necessary supplies are available.
  24. Make sure that emergency protocol is in place.
  25. Participate in quality assurance activities.
  26. Evaluate student performance and update skill validation competency as required by the agency.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of MD.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience, at least one (1) year of which was in caring for the elderly or chronically ill in the past 5 years
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in home health management
  • Complete a course with a minimum of 16 hours of instruction in the principles of adult education, or have a minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience
  • Must meet state requirements to serve as a CNA Instructor (such as Train-the-Trainer approval or equivalent certification).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills include the ability to market and relate tactfully with customers and other members of the community.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or Agency requirements.
  • Criminal Background check
  • Current CPR & First Aide Certification

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Five years’ management experience in the healthcare field.
  • Five years of teaching experience preferably in certification administration
