About the Role

Description

Position Overview: As a Maintenance Technician at AKG, you will be responsible for responding to maintenance requests and performing repairs across both the plant and office areas. Your expertise will cover troubleshooting and repairing 3-phase, single-phase, and DC electrical circuits, general carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, as well as equipment and electrical installations. Additionally, you will play an essential role in performing preventative maintenance and supporting the overall facility.

  

Key Responsibilities:

• Electrical Repairs & Installation: Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions, including the installation and relocation of equipment.

• Plumbing: Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures within heating, water, air, and sewer systems.

• Carpentry: Perform alterations, repairs, and maintenance on buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding, wood fixtures, and furniture.

• Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and inspections of assigned equipment, take necessary action to make repairs, and provide updates to your supervisor on the status of work orders and projects.

• Team Collaboration: Participate in daily meetings with your supervisor to prioritize and plan upcoming work orders and      projects.

• Unplanned Maintenance: Respond to unplanned maintenance requests from plant and office employees as needed.

• Continuous Improvement: Maintain knowledge of plant operations and machinery to ensure effective maintenance.

• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and environmental management system (EMS) procedures set by AKG.  

• CMMS Software Management: Manage maintenance tasks and track asset performance using CMMS software.

  

Additional Responsibilities:

• AC Repairs: Perform minor repairs on air conditioning systems when necessary.

• Fabrication & Adjustments: Suggest and implement adjustments to Engineer drawings, altering designs to better suit plant      needs.

• Construction: Build storage or work areas based on designs provided by Engineers.

• Supplier Coordination: Occasionally drive to suppliers for equipment and materials required for maintenance tasks.

• Ongoing Learning: Attend training sessions to stay updated on repair techniques and best practices for plant maintenance.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of a formal trade school program in equipment maintenance, an apprenticeship, or on-the-job training.

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in general repairs (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning).

• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Proficiency in using measuring tools and hand/power tools.

• Solid analytical skills to diagnose and address repair needs.

• High attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Standing (10%), walking (85%), and sitting (5%) throughout the shift; ability to bend, stoop, twist, pull, and push as needed.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. (25% of the time).

• Proficient in using lifts and power tools.

• Required safety gear includes steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection (provided).
