Supports management to meet safety standards, guidelines and regulations and implements safety measures in order to establish and maintain a safe working environment.

As nominated Radiation Safety Officer of Varian China. The responsibilities are included but not limited,

As part of the Varian China expert radiation safety organization is supporting and taking responsibility for the radiation safety program, covering all operational and regulatory radiation protection aspects associated with Varian activities related to ionizing radiation in China.

This includes the management of Class II and Class III radiation generating equipment in the context of testing, selling and handling of radioactive parts. The Varian Radiation Safety Officer is coordinating closely with the site head, functional leaders, the local competent authority to satisfy company internal radiation safety program and local radiation safety and compliance requirements.

The radiation safety officer is also supporting field operations (Installation and service of linear accelerator radiotherapy systems as well as service and source exchange of Ir-192 Brachytherapy Afterloader Systems).

As subject matter expert the radiation safety officer is responding to incidents and providing professional support in all radiation protection related questions. Support radiation environmental impact assessment and Occupational decease and health assessment of any new/expand/revise project, licensing renews, dosimeter program, radiation survey, radiation monitor tools management. Oversee, develop, maintain and deliver Radiation Safety training for all radiation workers  Oversee, develop, maintain and implement processes and procedures for all radiation workers.

Provide radiation safety oversight and support for the Beijing education center (training for customers and engineers working with Varian radiotherapy equipment).

Collaborate with other Radiation Safety Experts globally to leverage existing radiation safety processes and to promote consistency where it is reasonable to do so. And support global radiation safety programs as requested.
