About The Company
ALCOSAN is one of the Pittsburgh region’s premiere environmental and public health organizations, treating wastewater for 83 Allegheny County communities, including the City of Pittsburgh. The authority enhances the community’s quality of life and safety by working to protect drinking water, rivers and streams, and making the Pittsburgh region a great place to live, work, and play. ALCOSAN’s 59-acre treatment plant is one of the largest such facilities in the Ohio River Valley. ALCOSAN is a great place to work, therefore, turnover has historically and continues to remain very low. On average, 10 to 15 employees are hired per year mostly for entry-level plant or office positions. Hundreds of applications are received every year, and even more remain in the applicant database. ALCOSAN currently employs more than 400 people, with about 30 percent of them designated as salaried, including directors, managers, first-line supervisors and other professionals such as engineers. ALCOSAN also employs guards who are members of the General Teamsters, Chauffeurs & Helpers Local 249. The rest of ALCOSAN’s workforce are members of the Utility Workers Union of America Local 433. Most of ALCOSAN’s employees work Monday through Friday with the Operations Department and Security personnel working a rotating shift schedule. About the Role

ALCOSAN is committed to providing wastewater treatment services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. From our Board of Directors to our Executive Director, leadership and staff; we work to enhance the community’s quality of life and safety by protecting our rivers and streams. After 60 years of continued design, construction and operations of the sewer system and treatment plant, we now have 400 plus employees serving residential, commercial and industrial customers in 83 communities throughout Allegheny County.

Position Summary

Perform general clean-up duties through plant and office buildings

Job Duties

  • Mops and scrubs locker rooms, shower rooms, lunch rooms, kitchens, etc.
  • Cleans and polishes bowl and sink, shower metal fixtures.
  • Mops floors, washes walls, windows, etc.
  • Operates vacuum cleaner to clean floors, ceilings, etc.
  • Puts trap cleaner into sinks and bowls.
  • Sweeps and dusts as necessary.
  • Empties garbage cans.
  • Fills towel, toilet paper, and soap dispensers.
