Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of physicians to provide high-quality care to patients with allergies and asthma. The MA will be responsible for patient assessment, administering allergy tests, providing patient education, and assisting with clinical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in patient intake and assessment, recording medical history and symptoms.
- Administer allergy skin tests and pulmonary function tests.
- Prepare and administer allergy immunotherapy injections.
- Educate patients on allergy management, treatment plans, and medication usage.
- Assist physicians with clinical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to treatments and medications.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinic environment.
- Adhere to all clinic policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
- Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.

- Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
- Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
- Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
- Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
- Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
- Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
- Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
- Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
- Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
- Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
- Performs related duties as required.

Requirements
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
- Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant in an Allergy or Asthma clinic setting
- Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred
