About the Role


SUMMARY:

 

The Quality Assurance Manager will continue to develop and implement the Quality Management System (QMS) supporting ISO 9001:2015, AS9100 and ISO 14971 in support of customer requirements, future design, manufacturing & operational processes, risk assessment and procedures. This role reports directly to the Director of Quality or GM as assigned and will collaborate closely with all internal departments and cross-functional teams. 

This role will be hands on and develop processes and procedures consistent with U.S. Federal Aviation Administration regulations. Additionally, this role will ensure that all Karman quality management processes are implemented consistently and in accordance with international Standards and industry-standard methodologies such as AS1900 and Nadcap.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for site supervision of the Inspection department, Quality Engineer, and Quality Assurance. 
  • Responsible for managing compliance with ISO9001/2000 and AS9100 across all departments.
  • Ensure that all documentation including but not limited to Work Instructions, Planning, Blueprints, Drawing are on file, current and complete prior to any jobs being run. Maintain records, organization of department and filing system. 
  • Liaise with Engineering, Production, Machine Shop, Contracts/Sales Purchasing, communicate well with others, foster teamwork, and a positive environment. 
  • Experience with destructive and/or non-destructive testing. 
  • Oversee Quality performance in support of Production and Machine Shop for all site shifts and fulfill related department functions. 
  • Responsible for enforcement and compliance with all company safety policies. 
  • Evaluate new and modified equipment, processes for compliance with the First Article per customer specifications. 
  • Resolve non-conformance by using problem solving techniques and implement corrective action including communication to internal customers. Escalate as required.
  • Safely performs assignments, follows applicable safety practices, policies, and safe work behavior. Notifies management or appropriate personnel when a job hazard or an unsafe work practice emerges during work. 
  • Lead the site Quality Assurance department; select, manage, develop, and hold accountable team members to meet customer and internal departments deliverables and responsibilities.
  • Control of suppliers including supplier approval, supplier audits, supplier monitoring and supplier corrective action.
  • Manage the document change control process. Review and approve changes to engineering drawings, specifications and procedures. Assess impact on design and processes from a regulatory standpoint.
  • Lead Risk Management activities ensuring compliance with ISO 14971, including but not limited to the completion of FMEAs, Risk Assessments, and Risk Management Plans/Reports
  • Lead site material review board (MRB). Facilitate non-conforming material report (NMR) documentation, material disposition and NMR closure.
  • Monitor and maintain site corrective action / preventive action system.
  • Conduct internal quality audits to ensure compliance to the Quality System and regulatory requirements.
  • Function as a company liaison with regulatory and/or Notified Bodies during certification/recertification audits.
  • Collection and trending of key quality indicators for management review.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
  • Additional duties may be modified or assigned at any time based on business needs.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree desirable  
  • 5-10 years’ experience as Quality Control or Quality Assurance Manager. 
  • Quality Assurance certification a plus. 
  • Experience utilizing most QC tools, Calipers, Micrometers, Blocks Gags.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

 

  • This position operates in a professional office environment and throughout the production and assembly areas.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • May require limited travel between South El Monte and Corona sites.
