SUMMARY
As a 3rd Shift Machine Helper in our Covington, KY location, you will be a part of a team that takes the process of creating a corrugated product from beginning to end. Being a part of a team that serves not only local customers but national customer in either the Food Grade Industry, Medical Grade Industry, or Retail Industry is a great way to help Hood Container grow. We all need boxes, so why not be a part of the process of bringing products to people’s doorsteps around the world. Here you will see how boxes are made, from a single sheet of paper to what the customer receives with products ready to be packaged.
Purpose: Produces products by assisting Folder Gluer operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Reviews quality standards by studying production order, manufacturing and customer specifications; verifying specifications with folder gluer operator.
- Prepares FFG machine for use by assisting in set-up, installing, all required parts and other applicable components.
- Maintains production schedule by assisting operator in setting up, adjusting, resolving difficulties and substituting to maintain workflow.
- Gathers supplies by following requisition orders, obtaining stock material, tooling, and other needed supplies.
- Review and observe all safety rules when handling and operating machine.
- Assists in FFG operations documentation by providing data on order output, ink and material usage, calculates basic math; reading measuring tape, machine counters, other gauges and apparatuses; filling in required paperwork per department work instructions.
- Cooperates with machine schedule by working the standard shift as well as extended hours and weekend overtime as needed.
- Responsible for all weekly and daily HOUSEKEEPING.
Skill Levels
- Education/Experience- Education as usually obtained from a High School diploma. Entry level position.
- Demonstrate ability in – reading and following instructions, attention to details, trouble shooting, basic mathematical aptitude, reading measuring tape, and effective communication skills.

- Mechanical aptitude to perform minor repairs to vessels and equipment as needed
- Good organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must have basic math skills
- Ability to read and understand all SOPs as well as maintain a working knowledge of all SOP’s associated with the process
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be able to execute strenuous, sometimes repetitive physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 pounds as necessary, work in extreme temperatures, indoors and outdoors and can stand for long periods at a time
- Must be flexible and can work any shift, and overtime as needed
- Maintain acceptable attendance, which will be monitored continuously
- Must be able to read a tape measure in sixteenths.
