Senior Accountant

Description
We are looking for a hard-working, highly motivated individual to join our growing Finance and Accounting team. This candidate will be responsible for taking ownership of various work streams, and contributing to the development and implementation of best practices within the accounting and financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, reporting processes and internal controls. The candidate will utilize excellent time management, organization and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to communicate effectively and work independently to perform a wide array of duties. Main Responsibilities:
· Assist with the month-end close process, including ownership over certain monthly activities and account reconciliations for operational accounts.
· Own the calculation and report distribution for semi-monthly retail commissions, monthly/quarterly sales bonuses, and annual profitability bonuses.
· Own monthly report compilation and distribution for various departments, with a focus on retail.
· Act as the primary point of contact for retail financial questions.
· Manage Lease accounting and reporting to corporate team.
· Supervise staff accountants, which will include reviewing specific areas and gaining a more thorough understanding of current processes in order to make incremental improvements.
· Execute daily and monthly functions to support the Steinway & Sons team in accurately processing accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP and internal controls
· Assist with annual budgeting process
· Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency of existing processes and proposing enhancements
· Assist in the accumulation of support for the Company’s annual audit and quarterly reviews.
· Provide reporting and analysis on specific programs that are implemented.
· Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financials statements and annual tax packages.
Requirements
• BA/BS degree in Accounting
• 4+ years of relevant accounting experience with a Public Accounting firm and/or SEC-registered company
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Active CPA license is required
• Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization
• Proficient in Excel; must be comfortable analyzing and manipulating large data sets
• Superior problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
