Overview
Are you ready to shape the future of aviation? to champion and elevate our aircraft manufacturing training programs. In this role, you will standardize and document critical training activities, ensuring our production teams possess the expertise required to build the next generation of air transportation. You will be responsible for preparing technicians for On-the-Job Training (OJT) through hands-on instruction, area-specific skill development, and continuous improvement initiatives
Responsibilities
- Deliver new-hire onboarding training (e.g., core knowledge training, application/systems training, facility and safety orientation, etc.)
- Deliver fundamental skills training (e.g., safety cable, torque driver, O-ring installation, IPC620 and IPC610 solder training, etc.)
- Deliver continuous improvement applied training (e.g., 4S+S, standard work, built-in-quality, etc.)
- Coordinate with external vendors to support technical training needs
- Ensure that technical training content, processes, and procedures are in compliance with published training standards
- Manage and maintain technical training records
- Support development of technical training curricula based on existing work instructions, SOPs, and training content
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including subject matter experts, engineers, and production leaders, to incorporate practical, hands-on experiences into technical training programs.
- Coordinate and manage costs, and equipment for technician and quality inspector training
- Continuously assess the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations to address evolving industry requirements and feedback from trainees.
Required
- 2+ years of professional technical training experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in powertrain and electronics processes with the ability to define technical scopes, sequences, and critical tool requirements for complex tasks.
- Ability to conduct practical "tabletop" walk-throughs and field validations to ensure technical accuracy and safety in real-world applications.
- Strong delivery skills for leading in-person drills, technical simulations, and frontline coaching to ensure learner proficiency and task accuracy.
- Strong instructional and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and in an engaging manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and guide individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill levels
- Effective communication and organizational skills to manage training schedules, materials, records, and documentation
- Experience managing successful projects from inception to completion
Desired
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Training, Instructional Design, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in technical writing, specifically drafting step-by-step procedural documentation.
- Experience capturing and developing visual training aids, such as instructional photography and video, to supplement technical documentation.Experience designing, implementing, enhancing, and delivering training program in as manufacturing, production, or similar environment
- Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and/or other training software
- Experience as a technical writer
- Experience designing standardized training systems
- Experience in aerospace, composites, or electronics manufacturing
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $83,000-128,700/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
