About the Role

Wound Care/ Admission Nurse  

Optalis of St. Francis  

 

The Wound Care and Treatment Nurse is responsible for assessing, treating, and monitoring patients with acute or chronic wounds. They work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized wound care plans. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assessing patients' wounds and determining the appropriate treatment plan 
  • Cleaning and dressing wounds according to established protocols 
  • Monitoring patients' progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed 
  • Educating patients and their families on wound care techniques and prevention 
  • Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care 
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records 
  • Participating in wound care research and staying current on best practices 
  • On Call Rotation  
  • Assist in Admissions preparation and initial evaluations of Admissions  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS 

EDUCATION: 

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing. 

 

LICENSE: 

  • Current, active license as and Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan. Must have no restrictions on license. 

 

EXPERIENCE: 

  • One year experience providing direct care to residents in long term care setting preferred. Prior experience as unit Wound Nurse or similar experience preferred. 

 

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. 
  • Successful performance of this job classification can best be achieved through consistent application of current knowledge, use of good judgement, common sense, ability to establish and carry out priorities, effective use of interpersonal skills and ongoing communication with residents, staff, families, interdisciplinary team members and government officials including State surveyors and ombudsmen. 
  • Must meet all performance standards as delineated in the job description.
