About the Role

Description

Precision matters here. So do people.

Are you the kind of machinist who notices a tenth off before anyone else does? Do you take pride in craftsmanship and enjoy working with equipment that actually matches your skill level?

At Mate Precision Technologies, we Respect, Support, and Inspire—our customers and our employees; this is our brand and why people build long-term careers with Mate.

We’re hiring a First Shift Grinder Machinists to support our growing team. If you enjoy high-precision work, problem-solving, and working in a clean, climate-controlled shop, this could be a great fit.  First shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In this role, you’ll be hands-on and trusted to own your work. You’ll set up and operate CNC and conventional grinding machines (ID, OD, and surface), working on both standard and non-standard parts with tight tolerances.

You’ll read and interpret blueprints and GD&T, inspect your own work using precision measuring tools, and determine inspection methods with or without fixtures.

You’ll monitor machine performance, troubleshoot as needed, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to solve problems and improve processes.

This isn’t a “push the button and walk away” job—you’ll be actively involved in maintaining quality, hitting production goals, and participating in continuous improvement efforts like 5S and Kaizen.

There are also opportunities to help train others and share your knowledge across the team.

Requirements

Depending on your experience, you may work with equipment such as Okuma OD Grinders, Toyoda CNC OD Grinders, Okamoto surface and ID grinders, Mitsui surface grinders, and Blanchard grinders.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a technical degree preferred.
  • You should have at least 1–4+ years of machining experience, ideally with grinding, and experience with CNC and/or conventional machines with a strong machining foundation and the right mindset.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T, and the ability to use precision inspection tools are important.
  • Mechanical aptitude, basic programming knowledge, and familiarity with ERP systems are helpful.
  • Most importantly, you bring attention to detail, solid math skills, and a team-first attitude with pride in your work.

People stay at Mate because it’s a good place to work—plain and simple.
