We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences:
Programme Code: PDADCM
Programme Title: Professional Diploma in Advanced Diagnostic for Chinese Medicine
The appointee will support the development of the Professional Diploma in Advanced Diagnostic for Chinese Medicine for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences on a freelance, project-based basis. The programme will be developed in English.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:
Developing of course proposal;
Developing of PowerPoint presentations; and
Preparing of teaching notes.
Candidates
Candidates are expected to possess the following:
A higher degree in Health Sciences, or radiology and medical imaging;
Teaching experience in a health-related discipline;
Good command of written English;
Preferably with experience in part-time courses; and
Previous involvement in developing course materials for higher institutions is a definite advantage.
Background
The Professional Diploma in Advanced Diagnostics for Chinese Medicine is designed to bridge the gap between Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practice and modern diagnostic technologies. It equips TCM practitioners with a comprehensive "Safety-Legal-Clinical" framework, seamlessly integrating medical imaging, laboratory science, and medical law. Aligning strictly with the latest Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong (CMCHK) Referral Guidelines, the programme shifts the focus from merely "treating" to effective "screening." It trains practitioners to identify life-threatening conditions, execute timely triage, and make evidence-based referral decisions. This clinician-centric approach fosters inter-professional collaboration and significantly enhances patient safety in primary care settings.
This programme will cover the following topics:
Medical Imaging Physics, Technology & Safety
Imaging Anatomy
Integrated Medical Image Interpretation
Applied Laboratory Diagnosis
Legal Risks & Medical Liability in TCM Practice
Emergency Identification & Triage Practice
Upon completion of this programme, students should be able to:
Demonstrate in‑depth specialised knowledge of medical imaging physics, cross‑sectional anatomy, and laboratory science, applying this knowledge to improve diagnostic accuracy in TCM practice.
Critically analyse clinical indications, contraindications, and patient safety issues to formulate evidence‑based referral strategies for appropriate diagnostic tests.
Interpret diagnostic imaging reports and laboratory data, synthesising them into integrated treatment plans that align modern diagnostic findings with TCM principles.
Evaluate acute and urgent clinical presentations in an outpatient setting, applying structured triage procedures to execute timely emergency or specialist referrals.
Critically evaluate professional risks, legal boundaries, and ethical responsibilities related to diagnostic referrals and inter‑professional collaboration, applying relevant guidelines in routine practice.
