Occupational Therapist - Grade 1

The St John of God Bunbury Allied Health department is a diverse and welcoming team who go above and beyond to provide high quality care to our patients from many walks of life.
The hospital offers a broad range of Occupational Therapy (OT) services to our inpatients such as acute medical care, coronary care, palliative care and pre & post-surgical care.
We are seeking a casual and fixed term Grade 1 Occupational Therapist to join the team at St John of God Bunbury Hospital. In this role, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality occupational therapy services to clients and patients, utilising evidence-based clinical practice. You will ensure professional practice aligns with Occupational Therapy Australia’s Code of Ethics, as well as St John of God Health Care policies and guidelines, while contributing to patient-centred care and positive health outcomes.
The Position
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to clients/patients and or carers on an individual or group level for both inpatients and outpatients. Completion of comprehensive patient assessment (e.g. assessment of personal care, domestic and community ADLs, assessment of the home environment, cognitive and functional physical assessment as required).
- Provision of a comprehensive treatment intervention and appropriate progression treatment to match functional goals.
- Coordinate the provision of special aids and equipment requirements of patients if required to assist with functioning
- Provide consultation and support to medical, nursing, catering and allied health professionals within the Division as appropriate.
- Responsible for completing appropriate administrative duties arising from each session instructed. This requires liaison with the office administration team, reporting of statistical data and completion of clinical documentation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary activities e.g. team meetings, ward rounds, or case conferences, as required.
- Participate in the delivery of education programmes within the service and for Divisional caregivers.
- Participate in other activities as assigned.
- Supervise, instruct and assess students in approved clinical teaching programs in liaison with the Supervisor/Manager.
- Attends relevant training sessions offered by SJGHC. Satisfactory completion of all annual mandatory and unit based competencies as required.
- Accepts responsibility for maintaining and strengthening own professional knowledge and expertise.
The successful applicant will hold a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
You will demonstrate sound knowledge and practical skills in occupational therapy assessment, treatment and evaluation, along with effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate using technology.
The role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, as well as possession of a current C Class Driver’s Licence.

We can offer you
Salary: $85,508 to $120,255 plus 12% superannuation
Casual Rate: $53.91 to $75.82 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation
Fixed term part time position (8 day fortnight for up to 6 months) and Casual position available
