About the Role

Description

The Process Team Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating daily plant operations and frontline maintenance activities within Milford Mining Company’s mineral processing facility. This role provides hands-on leadership to operations personnel while ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable execution of crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning, material handling, and utility systems operations.


The Process Team Leader is expected to work closely with process, maintenance, metallurgical, and safety personnel to maximize plant uptime, production efficiency, equipment reliability, and employee performance. This position serves as the primary field leader for assigned crews and plays a critical role in maintaining operational discipline, troubleshooting process interruptions, coordinating maintenance activities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Process Operations Leadership

  • Lead and direct hourly operations personnel during assigned shifts in mineral processing operations. 
  • Coordinate daily plant activities including crushing, conveying, grinding/milling, flotation, thickening, filtration, leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning, reagent handling, and tailings systems. 
  • Monitor plant performance, operating conditions, alarms, trends, and process KPIs to ensure stable and efficient operations. 
  • Ensure operating crews follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and environmental controls. 
  • Assist operators with troubleshooting process upsets, equipment failures, flow interruptions, chemistry deviations, and production bottlenecks. 
  • Communicate operational priorities and shift expectations clearly to crew members. 
  • Conduct field inspections and plant walkthroughs to identify operational issues, housekeeping deficiencies, leaks, abnormal equipment conditions, and safety hazards. 
  • Coordinate shift-to-shift communication and ensure proper operational turnover documentation. 


Maintenance Coordination & Equipment Reliability

  • Coordinate frontline maintenance activities with maintenance personnel and process crews to minimize downtime and production disruptions. 
  • Assist in planning and prioritizing maintenance work on pumps, motors, conveyors, crushers, mills, flotation cells, piping systems, valves, filters, agitators, and SX/EW equipment. 
  • Verify equipment is properly isolated, locked out, drained, and prepared prior to maintenance work. 
  • Participate in troubleshooting mechanical and operational equipment failures. 
  • Monitor equipment condition and communicate reliability concerns to maintenance supervision. 
  • Support preventative maintenance activities and ensure equipment inspections are completed. 
  • Assist with startup and commissioning activities following maintenance repairs or shutdowns. 
  • Ensure work areas are cleaned, organized, and restored following maintenance activities. 


Safety, Environmental & Operational Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and safe work practices at all times. 
  • Conduct pre-shift safety meetings, job hazard discussions, and field-level risk assessments. 
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, MSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and operational procedures. Mine Safety and Health Administration 
  • Report and investigate safety incidents, near misses, process interruptions, and equipment damage events. 
  • Ensure proper PPE usage and safe work behaviors within all plant areas. 
  • Monitor chemical handling, spill prevention, and housekeeping practices throughout the facility. 


Crew Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and leadership to process personnel. 
  • Train employees on operating procedures, safety expectations, process systems, and plant equipment. 
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, timekeeping, and work quality. 
  • Support employee development through mentorship and operational training. 
  • Address employee concerns and maintain positive working relationships within the crew. 
  • Reinforce accountability, operational discipline, and teamwork across all shift activities. 


Production & Continuous Improvement

  • Support production targets while maintaining safety, quality, and environmental compliance. 
  • Monitor reagent consumption, plant throughput, recovery trends, downtime events, and operational efficiencies. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, reduced downtime, and improved equipment utilization. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives involving safety, reliability, process efficiency, and housekeeping. 
  • Assist with implementation of new operating procedures and operational improvements.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position directly supervises process personnel assigned to the crew and provides operational leadership during assigned shifts.


Work Environment

This position operates primarily in an active mineral processing facility. The employee will regularly work around crushers, conveyors, grinding mills, flotation equipment, pumps, piping systems, chemical handling systems, and heavy industrial equipment.


The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical equipment, elevated work areas, vibration, dust, slurry, noise, chemicals, and varying outdoor weather conditions. Appropriate PPE is required at all times in operational areas.


Physical Demands

The employee must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in industrial environments for extended periods of time.


The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more with assistance. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to recognize operational abnormalities and safety hazards.


Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical schedule is 7-on / 7-off, Thursday through Wednesday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Additional hours may occasionally be required during shutdowns, maintenance events, operational emergencies, or staffing shortages.


Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Requirements

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • 5+ years of industrial processing plant, mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial experience 
  • Prior leadership or crew supervision experience in industrial operations 
  • Experience working around mineral processing equipment and industrial maintenance activities 
  • Working knowledge of safe work practices, lockout/tagout, and industrial safety procedures 
  • Strong troubleshooting and operational decision-making skills 

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or technical certification preferred 
  • Experience in copper processing, flotation, leaching, solvent extraction, or electrowinning operations 
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities in industrial environments 
  • Familiarity with pumps, piping systems, motors, conveyors, crushers, grinding mills, and process equipment 
  • Experience using process monitoring systems or plant control systems 
  • Previous mining or mineral processing experience strongly preferred
