About the team


between our suppliers and business departments. We are part of the Thales Netherlands Procurement team that consists of several Procurement Segments.  as well as the Global Category team. You will be working in the Electronic Segment together with six other Category Buyers.

We are responsible for managing the Procurement Category portfolio ‘Systems & Equipment’ mainly in defense.

As a high-tech system integrator, the company focuses on high level of outsourcing and integration of its supply chain to secure long-term supply. With purchased goods making up to 85 percent of total manufacturing costs and considering the challenging market conditions it’s safe to say that the procurement department and its supplier network is of strategic importance.


About your internship
 

Your work as a procurement assistant is quite varied.

The main tasks are:

complete defense systems including services for naval ships. Within the boundaries of the needs for bids, running contracts and your category itself, you have the freedom to manage your working days.

  • Support cost reduction (cost killing) initiatives on PCBA.

Supporting and proposing procurement strategy for electrical components

  • Assist the Category Buyer in sourcing, gathering, and consolidating relevant supplier information for PVET slide preparation and strategic analysis.
  • Perform supplier risk assessments and follow up on mitigation actions.
  • Collect, structure, and analyze data regarding the electronic segment, focusing on coverage and performance of strategic suppliers.
  • Contribute to offer analysis and the preparation of negotiation strategies, working closely with the purchasing team.
  • Conduct cost breakdown analysis, especially PCBA pricing, using Excel and dedicated tools.
  • Be proactive in proposing improvements to purchasing processes and workflows.
  • Design and recommend efficient ways of working for managing multiple EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) suppliers simultaneously.
  • Participate in projects to optimize procurement processes and gain insights into a complex, international procurement environment.
  • Provide general support across all procurement processes.
  • Take a leading role in monitoring and implementing risk mitigation processes.
  • Gather and disseminate market intelligence (market info, benchmarking) and help harmonize communication within the Group.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. – French and Dutch are an asset
