Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, understanding their investment objectives, financial situation, and particular needs
- Execute client orders for equity and equity-related products, including ordinary shares, ETFs, synthetic and complex ETFs
- Provide general information on investment products and market insights to clients. Consistently provide trading ideas to both internal and external clients with a reasonable basis considering client objectives and regulatory requirements
- Utilize order management systems for trade input and ensure proper documentation and justification for trades. Collaborate with Middle Office and other internal teams to ensure smooth trade processing and resolve any issues from pre trade to post trade. Ensuring a smooth client journey
- Adhere to high standards of business conduct and good market practices, complying with local regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Equity Sales Trader in an institutional setting, preferably within Global Financial Markets or a similar environment
- In-depth understanding of various equity and equity-related products, including cash equities, equity derivatives (options, futures, swaps), ETFs (ordinary, synthetic, complex), SPACs, and private equity funds
- Strong understanding of financial markets, trading dynamics, and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., SFC, HKMA, MAS guidelines where applicable)
- Excellent client-facing skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
- High level of integrity and a strong commitment to ethical conduct and regulatory compliance. Awareness of rules regarding information sharing and execution principles
- Ability to analyze market data, assess client needs, and make informed trading recommendations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey market insights and complex product information to clients and internal stakeholders
- Familiarity with trading platforms and systems (e.g., Fidessa, Bloomberg) for trade execution, reporting, and portfolio management
- Appropriate licenses and certifications for trading equities in Hong Kong
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA) would be an advantage
