Work Hours: 10.30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday
NATURE OF WORK
The Meals On Wheels Assistant position is a Fair Labor Standards Non-Exempt position under the direct supervision of the Community Services Director. A person in this position acts in accordance with specific plans and instructions established by the Community Services Department. Every employee is required to adhere to Council on Aging of West Florida policies and procedures and abide by strictly defined instructions, rules and regulations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meeting TRIO delivery and distribution of meal boxes, per route sheets
- Coordinating with volunteers' delivery of Meals on Wheels meals to clients in Santa Rosa County
- Communication with volunteers, in event client is not home, and alternate delivery information
- Communication with MOW Supervisor at main office about clients to be put on hold; terminations; new clients and designated routes
- Complete any necessary paperwork
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
BASIC TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Good communication, verbal and math skills
- Work experience with a concentration in nutrition and/or activities preferred
- Ability to relate to and interact with the elderly and disabled
- Special understanding of the needs and limitations of the elderly and disabled
- Ability to coordinate and lead activities
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to complete reports
- Must be a team player
Three hours of continuing education credits will be required each year. Credits may be in an applicable category of choice as approved by the Community Services Director
