Cherry Hills Christian School is seeking a Christ-centered, passionate, and collaborative Middle School Language Arts Teacher who will joyfully partner in our mission to prepare students to live fully for God. The ideal candidate will be a devoted follower of Christ who is gifted in teaching reading, writing, literature, and communication skills while cultivating a classroom culture where faith and learning are deeply integrated.
Our teachers are more than instructors; they are mentors, shepherds, and role models who model the love of Jesus and seek to fulfill the Great Commission through daily classroom life. This role requires a strong commitment to academic excellence, biblical worldview integration, and equipping students to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage culture through the lens of Scripture.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a Christ-centered, nurturing classroom environment that fosters spiritual growth, academic excellence, creativity, and student engagement
- Design and deliver developmentally appropriate Language Arts curriculum aligned with CHCS’s scope and sequence, including reading comprehension, literature analysis, grammar, vocabulary, composition, and speaking skills
- Teach students to read, write, think, and communicate with clarity, discernment, and a biblical worldview
Integrate biblical truth and Christian values authentically into literature discussions, writing instruction, and classroom interactions - Guide students in developing strong written and verbal communication skills through a variety of instructional strategies and assignments
- Encourage critical thinking and thoughtful engagement with literature from diverse perspectives while helping students evaluate ideas through the truth of Scripture
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and meaningful feedback on academic progress and growth
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and help students reach their God-given potential
- Maintain consistent and meaningful communication with parents regarding students’ academic progress, classroom performance, and personal development
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate biblical principles across subject areas and foster a unified learning experience
- Participate actively in chapel services, prayer gatherings, and other spiritual life initiatives
- Uphold high standards of classroom management that reflect grace, consistency, accountability, and biblical principles
- Model the ideal team player traits - humble, hungry, people smart, positive, and loyal, in all interactions
- Contribute to the broader life of the school through involvement in events, student activities, discipleship opportunities, and community building

Reports To: Director of Middle School
Position Type: Full-time, exempt (40+ hrs/week)
Salary Range: $55,000 – $82,000 annually
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 403B, PTO

Requirements
Qualifications
- A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle that reflects biblical principles
- A deep commitment to the Great Commission and a passion for discipling middle school students
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Language Arts, Education, or related field (master’s preferred)
- Teaching certification or willingness to pursue certification (if applicable)
- Strong knowledge of middle school Language Arts instruction, literacy development, and composition strategies
- Experience teaching middle school students in a classroom or educational setting
- Ability to integrate faith authentically into teaching and student relationships
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative spirit and desire to contribute to a mission-driven team
- Demonstrated ability to build meaningful relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance instruction and student learning
- A growth mindset with a commitment to ongoing professional and spiritual development
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Language Arts in a Christian or independent school setting
- Experience teaching literature, writing workshops, grammar, and vocabulary at the middle school level
- Familiarity with middle school academic and spiritual development
- Experience in curriculum development and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Coaching, extracurricular leadership, yearbook, drama, speech/debate, or student publication experience
- Agreement with CHC’s mission, values, and statement of faith
