About the Role

Description

Planet Aid is a nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used textiles to protect the environment and support sustainable development in impoverished communities around the world is seeking a full-time, Driver. Reporting to the Transportation Manager.


This position has the responsibility of driving trucks of multiple including box trucks and tracker trailers transporting material from host locations to Planet Aid Business Unit; the driver will service the sites and routes provided by Planet Aid. Once the route is determined, the driver will be responsible for collecting all bagged and loose clothes and shoes in and around the bins. The driver will also be responsible for the proper maintenance of the sites which includes cleaning and collecting all the eventual rubbish disposed in and around the bins. The Driver will also support the team by shuttle trailers between satellite units in the region (same-day) as needed.

Pay: $26.50 + bonus, weekly


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other responsibilities may be assigned):


  • Demonstrate safe/efficient driving skills, driving trucks of multiple sizes including 26-foot box trucks and tractor-trailers.
  • Complying with Federal, State, and Local laws and guidelines
  • Good customer service and ability to communicate verbally with customers in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety procedures.
  • Shuttle trailers between business units in the region (same-day) and swap carts of donations on a daily basis in the region.
  • Exhibit good customer service skills and be able to communicate verbally with customers in a professional manner.
  • Served the donation bins designated on a route daily
  • Empty the donation bin, clean and collect eventual rubbish disposed in and around the bins
  • Load donated materials into the truck in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Communicate with management any problem or safety preoccupation taken
  • Lift and toss bags weighing up to 50 pounds and push items up to 300 lbs.
  • Must be prepared and flexible to perform associated and related job functions that are not specifically identified in this job description. There may occasionally be the opportunity for multi-day runs but this is a primarily local position.

Requirements

  • High School Degree/equivalent or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of commercial large-truck driving experience with at least 1 year of experience driving Tractor Trailers.
  • CDL Class A License Required.
  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical Card;
  • Knowledge of FMCSA Guidelines and the ability to communicate per FMCSA;
  • An insurance accepted driving record
