Job Summary
We are seeking a Principal Radar Systems Engineer to own system-level design and performance of advanced radar systems. Responsibilities include requirements system and sub-system interface definitions, architecture development, trade studies, and system verification. This role requires strong experience in radar systems and the ability to lead technical efforts across signal processing, electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
Primary Responsibilities:
Analyze radar performance based on an understanding of the following:
Radar Fundamentals: radar range equation, radar cross-section, pulsed and continuous wave radar, FMCW, waveform design, target characteristics
Radar Signal Processing: pulse compression, range-Doppler processing, windowing, angle-of-arrival estimation, detection and estimation, target tracking, target characteristic estimation
Antenna and RF Systems: EIRP, radiation patterns, beamforming, noise figure, RF front-end concepts, waveform generation
Electronics: digital and analog circuitry, signal conditioning, data converters (ADC/DAC), power and timing considerations, compute architecture design
Software/Firmware: embedded systems, real-time processing, hardware/software interfacing, RTOS, multithreading and concurrency, memory management, signal processing implementation, communication protocols, GNSS synchronization
Lead integration of radar subsystems into larger systems
Perform quantitative analysis of radar performance metrics for detection and tracking ranges, angle-of-arrival estimation accuracy, target characteristics estimation, multi-radar interference and more
Develop, refine, and manage system requirements
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Plan, define, and execute verification and validation activities across system lifecycle phases
Ensure all requirements are verified through analysis, inspection, demonstration, or testing
Drive validation efforts to confirm system performance meets operational needs
Define and implement a clear, scalable testing philosophy and strategy (lab, integration, and field)
Contribute to continuous improvement of test methodologies and frameworks
Author, review, and release formal test plans, procedures, and test reports
Conduct indoor and outdoor radar testing, including field deployments in varied environments
Coordinate test resources, instrumentation, and logistics for field campaigns
Troubleshoot system performance issues and drive root-cause analysis
Implement disciplined, well-organized data storage and tracking practices
