Description

POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for preventative and emergency maintenance of farm tractors and farm equipment. Always improving. Always serving. Always winning together. Exceeding expectations every day.  

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on tractors and equipment 
  • Thoroughly cleans tractor and equipment parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary 
  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on tractors and equipment to ensure effective performance 
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts 
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for tractors and equipment 
  • Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of tractors and equipment 
  • Repairs broken tractors and equipment quickly and efficiently 
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed 
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies 
  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on tractors and equipment 
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with Farm Operations Manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required 
  • Fill in throughout the farm positions that may need extra support during the peak seasons 
  • Trouble shoot and repair irrigation pivots 
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Valid Driver's License 
  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required 
  • Extensive mechanical and electrical experience, preferably farm and irrigation equipment 
  • Diesel Engine experience

  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment 
  • Ability to work in a team environment 
  • Manage priorities and workload and willingness to work in different departments as Farm demands change  

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: 

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking 
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery 
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines 
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds 
  • Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection in designated areas 
  • Exposure to airborne particles or fumes 
  • Ability to withstand cold and warm working conditions 
  • Must be able to navigate various terrains while at farming locations and all departments of the organization's physical premises
