About the Role

The Lead Teacher will instruct children in activities designed to positively promote social, physical, and intellectual growth while providing a safe and comfortable environment where children can have the opportunity to develop the necessary cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills that will aid in success in their educational future.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Implement the CDC-selected curriculum, including Creative Curriculum, to support children’s learning and development.
  • Create and implement engaging lesson plans and play-based learning experiences that support intentional learning.
  • Foster a classroom environment with consistent, high-quality verbal interaction and engagement with children throughout the day.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure positive, consistent interactions and classroom practices.
  • Manage daily classroom routines such as learning activities, meals, bathroom breaks, and transitions as opportunities for meaningful interaction.
  • Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans to the Center Director with all required components.
  • Observe and document children’s developmental progress using Teaching Strategies GOLD (TSG) and maintain accurate child assessments.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s development, progress, and classroom experiences.
  • Utilize brain-based strategies and classroom management techniques to support self-regulation and positive behaviors.
  • Apply CLASS-based interaction strategies to promote high-quality teacher-child interactions.
  • Support early literacy and language development through reading, writing, and classroom learning activities.
  • Participate in classroom observations and professional discussions focused on continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and supervision of children at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
  • Participate in family engagement activities, including home visits and parent-teacher conferences as required by program guidelines.
  • Communicate developmental or behavioral concerns to the Center Director when appropriate.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or associate degree in E.C.E. may qualify depending on the program.
  • PA teacher certification is required for certain programs.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working directly with children
  • Superior decision-making, problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time throughout the day with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending
  • Frequent to occasional lifting of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds
  • Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movement of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out job duties
