Harmony Hill School (HHS) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located in the village of Harmony in Glocester, RI. HHS employs 150 caring professionals who provide an array of clinical, medical and support services to biological males ages 8 to 18 who require residential treatment. We also offer a day treatment program for biological males ages 8 to 18 who are in grades K-12 and require regular or special education. Our campus is surrounded by 150 acres of picturesque fields, woodlands, and ponds, providing a peaceful environment for healing. About the Role

Harmony Hill School (HHS) is a private, non-profit organization that provides education, residential care and day treatment services to adolescent males. Our beautiful school campus is located in Glocester, RI, just a 20-30 minute commute from many towns in the RI, CT, MA area.

As a Weekend Cook, you will be part of the Food Service team that provides nutritious, well-balanced meals to students and staff. This is a 32 hour/week position with an initial work schedule of 11:30am-6:30pm on Sundays and Mondays and 7:00am-2:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.  This position offers you meaningful work, a competitive pay rate, and full benefits, including health/dental/vision insurance and a generous amount of paid time off -- apply today! 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Follow established menus, recipes, and any special dietary instructions to prepare, cook and serve daily meals and snacks to students and staff.
  • Adhere to department guidelines to ensure the cleanliness, safety and organization of kitchen, food storage, and cafeteria area.
  • Participate in various activities related to kitchen inventory, food deliveries, and quality control.
  • Engage professionally with youth and staff to provide a positive customer service experience.

  • Solid interpersonal communication, conflict management and de-escalation skills;
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of youth, families and professionals. Possess a knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • SafeServ/Food Safety Handler certification (or willingness and ability to obtain);
  • Previous cooking experience required, experience in an institutional or commercial food service setting is preferred;
  • Physical requirement of this position include: frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending and regularly lifting of up to 20 lbs (up to 50 lbs occasionally).
  • Must successfully complete required driving, criminal and child abuse/neglect pre-employment screenings and maintain favorable results during employment.
