Job Summary

Job Title: Ambulatory Medical Surgery Unit (AMSU) Outpatient RN

Location: Miami VA Medical Center: 1201 NW 16th St, Miami, FL 33125

Period of Performance: 08/12/2025 – 08/11/2030

Shift Schedule: 10-hour shifts: 11:30am-8:00pm or 9:30am-8:00pm; weekends and holidays, as required by the unit.


Primary Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Unit:  Ambulatory Medical Surgery Unit (AMSU) outpatient unit

Skills:

  • Incumbent will provide pre-operative/pre-procedure, post-operative/post-procedure nursing care to Veterans who will undergo or have undergone moderate sedation and/or anesthesia for surgical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures. (Operating Room, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Pulmonary Lab, CT/MRI (pre and post hydration), GI Suites, Interventional Radiology, and the Pain Clinic).
  • Conduct daily post-operative/post-procedure follow-up phone calls.
  • Provide additional coverage for the Urology Clinic, Pain Clinic, Wound Care and the Pre-anesthesia Clinic.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license from any state in the United States.
  • Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificates accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Experience: At least three (3) years nursing experience, including experience with outpatient or ambulatory surgery.
  • Education: ASN accepted; BSN preferred.
  • Education must have been completed at a school accredited by the ACEN or CCNE.
