Le Jardin Academy is looking for an Interim Athletic Director. This position provides leadership in the development, management, coordination, and evaluation of the athletic program. Bachelor’s degree in Athletics, Physical Education or a closely related field required, along with five (5) years experience working as an administrator and/or teaching and coaching. Job Scope
Provides leadership in the development, management, coordination, and evaluation of the athletic program.
Essential Functions
The position of Athletic Director encompasses but is not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:
Administer all athletic programs associated with LJA, and in so doing, support and promote the mission and philosophy of the school.
Administer all rules from Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA)/ Interscholastic League of Honolulu(ILH)/Le Jardin Soccer Academy(LJSA)/ Le Jardin Academy(LJA).
To oversee and evaluate the work of:Coaches, Administrative Assistant-Athletics, Gym Manager, Bus Driver, Lifeguard, Weight Room Manager, and all Soccer Academy personnel.
Serve as primary contact, resource and support, and interpret Board of Athletic Directors for the ILH policies to coaches, players, parents and administrators.
To ensure the proper maintenance and security of all athletic equipment and athletic facilities.
Oversees the Bus Maintenance and Department of Transportation Driver requirements.
Prepare an annual budget for submission to the Head of School and CFO and manage all accounts related to duties.
To ensure that all coaching positions are filled with competent coaches who are properly trained in all organizational and philosophical aspects of the athletic program.
Monitor and evaluate coaches performance (i.e. attend practices, matches, games, team meetings with parents.)
Determine scholastic eligibility of all candidates and certify their eligibility on all league and state forms.
Work with the Activities Coordinator to schedule athletic assemblies and pep rallies.
Plan, organize and supervise athletic award programs.
Work with the Associate Director of Communications to promote publicity for athletic programs.
Work with and coordinate activities with the Booster club.
Responsible for the LJA School Store.
Secure and manage rentals for gymnasiums and oversee the master schedule. Make arrangements for all interscholastic transportation, games, practices, lodging and meals as required.
Communication upcoming events and recaps of previous events.
Responsible cancel / postpone events due to weather or hazardous conditions.
Attend relevant meetings including but not limited to ILH, HHSAA and league/ state meetings.
Review and update the coach's manual on an annual basis. Provides coaches with manuals in formal pre-season meetings.
Maintain the following records:
A permanent file of medical exams/ insurance forms/ parent consent forms for each participating athlete
Wins and losses for each sport, letter winners, etc.
Eligible athletes/participants and submit to the league office.
Athletic suspensions and expulsion from teams.
Seek and evaluate ways of improving the athletic program.
Responsible for the Le Jardin Academy Soccer Program.

Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Athletics, Physical Education or a closely related field.
NIAA certification preferred (RAA or CAA or CMAA).
Master’s degree in Athletic Administration or closely related field preferred.
Experience
● Five(5) years experience working as an administrator and/or teaching and coaching.
● Non-profit or school-oriented background preferred.
● Experience in a team-oriented environment.
Skills
● Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
● Ability to meet deadlines in an environment with multiple simultaneous projects.
● Build strong relationships.
● Work independently and frequently without direct supervision.
● Proven ability to represent the department and organization in writing – applicant may be asked for a writing sample.
● Demonstrated organizational skills.
