DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Sr. Manager, Spain, located in Madrid, Spain. 

Job Overview 

The Sr. Manager, Spain – Human Resources is a senior HR leader responsible for shaping and executing the people strategy for DePuy Synthes in Spain. This role partners closely with country and business leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, talent outcomes, and a positive employee experience while ensuring compliance with Spanish labor laws and Johnson & Johnson/DePuy Synthes policies. This position has a meaningful impact on business performance by enabling leaders, strengthening culture, and supporting the transformation of the organization during a period of change and growth. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the senior HR business partner for Spain, advising leaders on workforce strategy, organization design, and talent decisions aligned with business priorities. 

  • Lead and execute core HR programs including talent management, succession planning, performance management, and employee engagement. 

  • Ensure full compliance with Spanish labor legislation, collective bargaining agreements, works councils, and internal HR policies. 

  • Partner with regional and global HR teams to implement enterprise‑wide initiatives and change programs at the country level. 

  • Lead employee relations activities, including investigations, conflict resolution, and proactive risk mitigation. 

  • Coach and develop people leaders to build strong leadership capability and inclusive, high‑performing teams. 

  • Oversee workforce planning, hiring strategies, and internal mobility in collaboration with Talent Acquisition. 

  • Analyze HR data and trends to provide insights and recommendations that support business outcomes. 

Where required to be managed locally:  

  • Document handling: Print, stamp/seal, mail/ship, distribute, and route documents for wet signatures. 

  • Records management: Store/archive/retrieve HR documents; fulfill requests; coordinate offsite storage; scan and name for Veeva. 

  • Compliance/admin: Upload/submit filings; print and hand-deliver to agencies; support audits and onsite audit coordination. 

 

 

Qualifications 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field (required). 

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or similar (preferred). 

Experience and Skills 

Required: 

  • Typically 8–10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with demonstrated success in a senior HR business partner or HR leadership role. 

  • Strong working knowledge of Spanish labor law, employee relations, and works council engagement. 

  • Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence decision‑making in a matrixed organization. 

  • Experience leading organizational change and implementing HR programs at scale. 

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience supporting a multinational or highly regulated organization, ideally within medical devices, life sciences, or healthcare. 

  • Prior people management or HR team leadership experience. 

  • Experience working in transformation, integration, or separation environments. 

  • Familiarity with global HR systems, processes, and data analytics tools. 

Other: 

  • Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal) is required. 

  • Travel: Up to ~15–20% travel, primarily within Spain and occasional regional travel. 

  • Certifications: Professional HR certifications (e.g., local HR or labor relations certifications) are preferred but not required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€75,000.00 - €129,260.00

 

 

Benefits:

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
