About the Role

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Safety Inspector/ Technician Apprentice

Department: Safety
Reports To: Safety Supervisor 
Location: PFM Jobsites Guam USA 
Employment Type: Apprenticeship (Full-Time)

Summary/Objective:

The Safety Inspector / Safety Technician Apprentice assists safety personnel in supporting workplace health, safety, and environmental programs. This role involves learning and applying fundamental safety principles, assisting with workplace inspections, hazard identification, incident reporting, and safety compliance activities while ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety standards. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience through supervised work in construction and industrial environments.

Essential Functions:

Assist with conducting workplace inspections to identify unsafe conditions, hazardous materials, and non-compliant work practices.

Assist with implementing and monitoring safety programs, procedures, and compliance initiatives in accordance with OSHA and company standards.

Support in various safety assessments, and hazardous exposure tracking activities under the supervision of safety personnel.

Assist with documenting incidents, accidents, near misses, and safety concerns while learning investigative and reporting procedures.

Participate in emergency response drills and assist with maintaining emergency preparedness procedures and safety equipment.

Assist with employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, and hazard communication training activities.

Support the monitoring, handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.

Conduct health and safety training programs

Communicate with supervisors, contractors, engineers, and employees to support workplace safety initiatives and hazard control measures.

Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, and other reports related to workplace safety activities.

Perform physically demanding tasks including walking job sites, climbing ladders, lifting materials or equipment, and working in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.

Learn and apply construction safety standards, company procedures, and industry best practices through classroom instruction and on-the-job training.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, in alignment with the position’s responsibilities, may also be required to support the team and business objectives.

Qualification, Competencies and Requirements 

  • WORK ELIGIBILITY: Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • AGE: Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • RESIDENCY: Must have resided in Guam for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years prior to entry into the program. A Mayor’s Verification of Residency is required upon hire.
  • COMMITMENT: Must be able to attend a minimum of two (2) classes per week, as specified by the apprenticeship program standards, while maintaining a full-time (40-hour) work schedule with PFM.

Work Environment

  • Work outside in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times
  • Must be willing to work between multiple worksites

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, hourly position. Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, due to operational needs, may be required to work before or after normal hours of operations, on weekends or holidays.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.
