ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to Senior Center Director
STATUS: Exempt, Full Time- Onsite schedule
JOB SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator (PC) is responsible for coordination of services for congregate clients, Volunteer coordination, and assisting Home Delivered Meals (HDM) Coordinator as needed. PC leads exercise classes and facilitates evidenced-based programs and other activities, as well as assists the Program/Wellness Coordinator with implementing new programs. PC assists Director in fundraising, grant writing, and marketing of Senior Center programs and services. PC screens clients to determine appropriateness and eligibility for referral for services. PC answers the phone, performs clerical duties for the Senior Center, and performs other related duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
Coordination of Congregate Program:
· Conduct or complete initial assessment of congregate clients to determine appropriate services.
· Explains programs, services, and requirements to clients.
· Conduct or complete yearly reassessments of all congregate clients.
· Maintains files.
· Record daily attendance and maintain monthly logs.
· Transport Congregate clients to and from the senior center as needed.
Coordination of Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Volunteers:
· Recruit and register RSVP volunteers.
· Maintain files and prepare monthly logs.
· Attend annual RSVP Recognition Event
Assist Home Delivered Meals (HDM) Program Coordinator:
· Prepare and maintain Route Schedules
· Assist with Monthly Division of Aging Services (DAS) Database reports.
· Assist with packing and delivering meals.
· Assist with assessment and reassessment as needed.
Marketing/Fundraising:
· Prepare fundraising/marketing materials.
· Research and assist with grant applications.
· Promote Senior Center volunteer opportunities.
Screens clients to determine appropriateness and eligibility for referral for services.
Answers the phone and performs clerical duties of the Center.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Education:
· Bachelor's Degree or two years of related experience, or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential function of the job.
Knowledge and Experience:
· Record management, including report preparation, filing methods.
· Proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.
· Standard business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals.
· All relevant programs and criteria for eligibility.
· Basic Gerontology - Programs and services for older adults.
· Federal, State, and local laws and ordinances related to the elderly.
· Basic medical terminology.
· Available community services and resources related to older adults.
· Administrative policies and procedures related to area of assignment.
· Geographical areas and street locations within the County.
Skills:
· Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to assess needs of individuals.
· Composition- letters, memos, directives.
· Ability to use tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgement within established guidelines.
· Organization for work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up on assignments with two minimum of directions.
· Basic computer skills including working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, service providers, family members, and others.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations, procedure manuals, etc.
· Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Evaluations as required.
Required Licensure and Certification
· Valid State Driver’s License
Preferred Licensure and Certification (Can be obtained after hiring)
· CPR and First Aid
· ServSafe
· Group Exercise Certification
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

· Local and regional travel required.
· Required to inspect and safely operate a motor vehicle in a wide range of weather and traffic conditions.
· Regularly required to use hands to write, use a computer, operate a motor vehicle, use a hand-held device and telephone, and manipulate documents.
· Regularly required to read documents and write neatly, legibly, and transcribe accurate information and numbers/values.
· Employee continually engages in activities that require talking and hearing.
· Frequent: Standing, sitting, walking, repetitive use of hands, simple grasping, and fine hand manipulation, pushing and pulling with hand(s). Occasionally required to reach above shoulder level.
· Must be able to lift and/or move up to 11 pounds, and occasionally 25 pounds. (When lifting more than 25 pounds, two or more people are required to lift the load.)
· Applicant must be able to perform senior group exercise. Current classes include SilverSneakers Cardio Circuit (standing class), SilverSneakers Classic (stand and sit), and Chair exercise. Instructor training will be provided.
· May require over-time and weekend work
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Temperature ranges include normal indoor climate-controlled environment in buildings or vehicles, various outdoor conditions and temperature extreme encountered during travel, and unpredictable indoor environmental conditions encountered in off-site locations.
· Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions when traveling.
· May be subjected to clients with communicable diseases, or may be exposed to potentially infectious materials or other conditions at job sites or other locations, which may include (but are not limited to) poor air quality, mold, mildew, fungus, exposure to cigarette smoke, etc.
· May be required to walk on uneven terrain.
· May be required to travel to community areas that are potentially dangerous, or to isolated rural locations.
· During off site travel, employee may encounter a variety of unpredictable environmental conditions in client homes, including unsanitary conditions. These unclean conditions may include (but are not limited to) housekeeping neglect, exposure to cigarette smoke, poor air quality, mold, mildew, fungus, spoiled food, vermin or animal urine or feces.
· Noise level quiet to moderate.
