Description
The Kitchen Team at Hope Gospel Mission is searching to add another staff member! This role will be focused on assisting with daily food service preparation and distribution to provide healthy and balanced meals for all Residents of Hope Gospel Mission. The ideal candidate has previous work experience in a kitchen or food service - if this is you, let us know by submitting an application!
Classification: Full-time or Part-time, Non-exempt
Supervisor: Food Service Lead
Schedule: Full-time or part-time hours within the daytime range of Monday - Friday, help at Celebration Dinners the last Friday of every month. Additional required events fall outside of this range.
Position Objective: Provide healthy and balanced meals for all Residents.

Requirements and preferences for this position:
- Mature Christian in agreement with Hope Gospel Mission’s faith statement
- Previous experience with kitchen or food service preferred
- Serve Safe Manager certification or ability to certify upon hire
- Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills
- Ability to navigate crisis in a calm and professional manner
- Computer literate
- Current driver’s license and ability to meet approval requirements of HGM’s insurance company for driving mission vehicles
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Summary of responsibilities:
- Create and maintain an intentional, faith-based, healthy, healing community
- Obtain food and donations to maintain meal service within budget
- Oversee kitchen volunteers, including providing each person an orientation prior to working in the kitchen
- Create three healthy meals and portion control for each resident each day, including preparing a dinner that can be finished and served in each house – This includes making sure that unlimited salads items and vegetables are available so no resident is hungry
- Supply and stock condiments, milk, and other supplementary food items as needed
- Maintain hygiene and food safe standards in all kitchens
- Keep food rotated and fresh
- Implement, and oversee all kitchen and food processes and procedures
- Provide meals for events such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and celebration dinners
