Description
LHC Residences is seeking a Supervisor in Charge (formerly Medical Technician) responsible for overseeing daily resident care operations while ensuring the safe administration of medications and adherence to all community policies and procedures. This position provides leadership and guidance to caregiving staff during assigned shifts and helps maintain a safe, compassionate, and engaging environment for residents in an assisted living and memory care setting. The SIC serves as a point of contact for residents, families, staff, and healthcare providers while promoting resident dignity, wellness, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, company policies, and state regulations.
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff, healthcare providers, or management.
- Supervise caregiving staff during assigned shifts to ensure quality care and operational efficiency.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and dining assistance as needed.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records (MARs), incident reports, and resident documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, emergency response, and resident rights procedures.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, resident incidents, and behavioral situations.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, and team members.
- Assist with shift assignments, staff guidance, and workflow coordination.
- Conduct wellness checks and observe residents for emotional, physical, and cognitive changes.
- Promote resident engagement, comfort, dignity, and a positive living environment.
- Ensure medication carts, supplies, and resident care areas remain organized, clean, and secure.
- Support onboarding and mentoring of new caregiving staff as assigned.
- Attend required training sessions, staff meetings, and continuing education programs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Medication Technician (Med Tech) certification required, where applicable by state regulations.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in assisted living, memory care, long-term care, or a related healthcare environment
- CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and resident care practices.
- Ability to lead and supervise staff in a professional and supportive manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifictions:
- Previous supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Experience working with seniors, including residents with dementia or cognitive impairments, is strongly preferred
