PCE Preschool Teacher

Description
Oversee a preschool classroom preparing the children educationally and social-emotionally for their next level of education at the Village of Hope or an offsite school. Also oversee parent helpers in the classroom, mentoring them in educational and disciplinary techniques.
This role has a schedule of Monday-Friday, from 7:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Essential Job Duties with optional subcategories:
- Help children reach developmental milestones
- Supervise children to ensure safety protocols are met
- Manage classroom activities including lessons, play, breaks, and snacks
- Facilitate various activities for children including songs, games, storytelling and chapel
5. Instill a sense of structure and discipline for children in the classroom
6. Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and children
7. Prepare children to enter the next level of care or for entry into school
8. Report any accidents or unusual behavior to supervising staff and parents
9. Mentor and evaluate adult student helpers
10. Maintain a safe, clean and tidy classroom
Key Performance Indicators (what are the main job duties performed that measure success for this position and organization goals): To an extent, key performance indicators will be determined through the progressing of our children through their educational and social-emotional goals. The amount of goals are set and achieved through active communication with PCE Manager, PCE Behavior Support Specialist and parents.
Job Skills/Qualifications: Experience as a Preschool Teacher with a knowledge of how to deal with children who have been through trauma. Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods. Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms. Excellent communication and instructional skills. Ability to act as mediator between children. Certification in child CPR or willing to be ceritfied.

Part II – Job Requirements
Education: Associate's degree (AA)
Experience: 4-5 yrs of job related work experience.
Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups.
Math Skills: Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
Reasoning: High Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in siutations where only limited standardization exsists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
