Job Summary and Mission
The Warehouse Forklift Operator contributes to Shaw Baker’s success by ensuring ingredients, packaging and finished goods are handled correctly.
The Warehouse Forklift Operator works within the warehouse and will support the processes for inbound, outbound, storage and selection of production work orders. The warehouse forklift operator will be a part of ensuring the high integrity of the product quality and food safety. The warehouse forklift operator will Support different strategies to make a safer and faster warehouse with accurate inventory. This warehouse forklift operator will notice when a partner is struggling and offers help as appropriate. Actively engages and apply learning experiences. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Receiving: Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoice, properly completes receiving logs and stores product in designated area.
- Warehousing: Make sure product is stored in the right place, ensure areas are always secure, all finished goods must wrapped, and input into the PO Follow-up upon receipt.
- Shipping: allocation of raw materials or packaging accurately according to production requests, accurately load transfers and complete documentation in systems.
- Communicate to management when there are concerns within the warehouse and with warehouse team members.
- Ability to understand and communicate written policies, quality, sanitation and safety standards.
- Comply with HACCP-plan and food safety requirements.
- Accurately label and store ingredients, packaging and finished pallets in propper holding temperatures and assigned storage locations in the warehouse.
- Fullfill production ingredient orders and ensure orders are delivered complete and timely.
- Enters data daily into PO Update and inventory tracking system accurately.
- Completes transfers to cold storage locations accurately and timely prior to dispatch.
- Load customer pickups accurately and timely prior to dispatch.
- Completes forklift training at hire and every 3 years for continued certification.
- Maintains regular and consistent punctual attendance.
- Recognizes others and suggests thoughtful ideas on how to build team morale.
- Must notify management of any potential food safety or quality issue.
- Ensures occupational safety is a priority in the warehouse and reports any unsafe equipment or behavior.
- The Warehouse Forklift Operator must understand their involvement towards Food Safety. They commit themselves to follow and adhere to GMP and Food Safety practices to comply with SQF and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Summary of Experience
Years
- Experience in utilizing forklift and pallet jack powered equipment.
- Experience in perishable warehouse operations or in a related area. 1-3 1-3
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Desirable high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Equipment/Software Skills: Computer skills desirable (a plus, but not required).
- Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift Certification, pallet jack certification, and drivers license.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Attention to detail.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand written and verbal policies and guidelines, specifications and safety standards.
- Proficient with math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
- Communicate to management when there is an issue, whether it is work related or personal.
- Must be able to follow strict safety, food security, and Good Manufacturing practices (GMP).
