About the Role

Description

Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community offers a full continuum of care, including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Skilled Nursing services.

We are currently hiring part- and full-time wait staff to join our five-star dining team. We are looking for friendly, professional, and service-driven individuals who are committed to delivering exceptional service and supporting our fine dining and catering operations in a senior living/CCRC environment. Full-time shift: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM (Full-time employees receive a break between 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM). 


We offer a convenient shuttle service on 49th Street at the ODU campus for employees traveling to and from work. A Harbor’s Edge badge is required to ride the shuttle. Employees who live nearby or on the ODU campus can take advantage of this service. Ask the hiring manager for more details. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide attentive, courteous, and personalized dining service to residents, guests, and visitors in a senior living or CCRC environment.
  • Take and deliver food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently using a POS system, ensuring resident preferences and dietary needs are met.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming dining area; assist with table setup, clearing, and presentation.
  • Support special events, private dining, and catering services as needed.
  • Deliver a warm, respectful, and engaging fine dining experience that promotes resident satisfaction and comfort.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and nursing staff to accommodate special diets, food restrictions, and resident requests.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and sensitivity while interacting with older adults and their families.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must meet Virginia minimum age requirements for employment (16+).
  • One (1) year of serving experience preferred; training provided for the right candidate.
  • Food Handlers’ Card required (training available if needed).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Genuine passion for positively impacting the lives of older adults in a supportive CCRC community.
  • Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform tasks including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs.
