Key Responsibilities:


Manufacturing Process Development

· Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes, workflows, and standard work instructions. 

· Create and maintain manufacturing routers, process sheets, BOM structures, labor standards, and related ERP system data. 

· Support new product introduction (NPI) activities from prototype through production release. 

· Design and improve tooling, fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing aids to enhance safety, quality, and productivity. 

· Evaluate manufacturing methods and implement process improvements to reduce waste, rework, downtime, and cycle time. 

· Support CNC machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, wire/cable operations, paint, and final integration processes. 

· Collaborate with Engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA). 

Continuous Improvement & Operational Support

· Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen and 5S activities. 

· Analyze production bottlenecks, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and implement corrective actions to improve throughput and efficiency. 

· Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective/preventive action activities. 

· Monitor labor utilization, process flow, and operational performance metrics. 

· Provide technical support and assist production teams with problem-solving. 

· Participate in process audits and operational improvement activities. 

Quality & Compliance

· Ensure manufacturing processes comply with customer requirements, engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety/environmental regulations. 

· Support compliance with ISO, AS9100, defense, and customer-specific requirements. 

· Assist with nonconformance investigations, corrective actions, process validation, FAI (First Article Inspection), process qualification, and inspection planning. 

· Maintain controlled documentation and revision management practices. 

· Support customer, internal, and regulatory audits. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Work closely with Production, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to improve operational performance and meet production schedules. 

· Coordinate priorities, material flow, supplier quality issues, and customer deliverables across departments. 

· Provide technical guidance and training to operators and production personnel.

· Support defense-related compliance activities and customer requirements.

Requirements

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field preferred. 

· 3–7 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. 

· Experience in defense, aerospace, industrial equipment, machinery, or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred. 

· Experience supporting low-volume, high-mix manufacturing operations strongly preferred. 

· Strong understanding of machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and related manufacturing processes. 

· Experience with ERP/MRP systems, manufacturing documentation, and production control processes. 

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, schematics, and technical specifications. 

· Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement methodologies, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action systems. 

· Familiarity with process validation, process optimization, and manufacturing best practices. 

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering/manufacturing software tools; CAD experience preferred. 

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through. 

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

· Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization. 

· Hands-on, team-oriented approach with the ability to work directly on the production floor. 

· Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 

· Preferred qualifications:

o AS9100 or ISO manufacturing experience

o Defense manufacturing or government contract experience

o Experience with CNC machining and fabrication environments

o Lean/Six Sigman certification

o Experience supporting ERP implementations or process optimizations
