About the Role
EHR Support Specialist


Purpose of Position:

Serve as a member of the village health service team in a supporting role, assisting with the electronic health record documentation process for Community Health Aides, verifying patient records for completeness.

Uphold the organization’s vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions:

Assist Community Health Aides in the use of the electronic health record, respond to questions and assist with problem solving

Review patient records to determine if there are any deficiencies that need to be corrected before forward for coding and billing

Assist the health aides with compliance and medical records information

Work closely with the coder and billers to resolve issues when they arise

Promote teamwork and participate as an active member of the team

Adhere to established procedures and display professional demeanor to effectively interact with staff, providers and team members

Assist in monitoring and active follow-up of documentation and charting deficiencies to support CHA Staff and HIM in the continuous accuracy and completion of the medical record

Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Associates or Bachelor’s Degree (Healthcare, business administration or related field)

Experience

3 year(s) Experience with computer use; experience working with health aides preferred

Physical Requirements:

∙Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment

∙Sit more than half the workday

∙Stand and/or walk less than half the workday

∙Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach

∙View electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time

∙Use hands and arm for repetitive motion tasks

∙Lift or carry unaided between 25 and 50 pounds

∙Push or pull using up to moderate force

Working Conditions:

∙Work is conducted in a standard office environment but incumbent may often enter a typical clinical environment during the course of their work. This could expose the incumbent to latex, biohazard or other harmful substances

∙Little or no Travel is required
