About the Role:
The Driver position is critical to ensuring the safe and timely transportation of goods across various locations within the United States. This role involves operating commercial vehicles such as dump trucks and box trucks to deliver materials efficiently while adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing routes, maintaining vehicle condition, and ensuring compliance with safety standards to support overall transportation management objectives. This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate diverse routes using maps and GPS technology. Ultimately, the Driver will contribute to the seamless flow of goods, supporting warehousing operations and customer satisfaction through reliable delivery services.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A.
- Proven experience in truck driving with knowledge of DOT regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret maps and GPS navigation systems.
- Strong understanding of transportation management and warehousing processes.
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating both dump trucks and box trucks.
- Familiarity with transportation management software and logistics planning.
- Additional endorsements on CDL such as hazardous materials or tanker endorsements.
- Previous experience working in a warehousing or logistics environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial vehicles including dump trucks and box trucks safely and efficiently to transport goods to designated locations.
- Comply with all DOT regulations and company policies to ensure safety and legal operation of vehicles.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes using maps and GPS to meet delivery schedules and reduce transit times.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel and transportation management teams to facilitate loading, unloading, and timely delivery of materials.
Skills:
The required skills such as truck driving and knowledge of DOT regulations are essential for ensuring the safe and compliant operation of commercial vehicles on a daily basis. The ability to read maps and use GPS technology supports efficient route planning and timely deliveries. Holding a CDL Class A license demonstrates the candidate's qualification to operate large vehicles, which is fundamental to the role.
